Serial killer Dexter Morgan has had his fair share of trouble both this season and in seasons' past.  Some would say he has deserved it what with his penchant for killing a whole lot of people in awfully methodical and sometimes very disturbing ways.  Others might argue that as Dexter has a tendency to only kill bad guys (what with his code and all), Dexter has all too often found himself undeservedly hunted.  Either way you see it, it has made for some pretty great television with some pretty big twists and tonight's finale promises to be no different.

We don't know what will happen to Dexter Morgan at the end of tonight's episode.  We don't know whether he and his dark passenger will live to see another day, and if they do, if they do so without getting arrested.  We don't know what happens to the folks in Dexter's life either.  We can't wait to find out though.  This series has had more than one season finale which closed in impressive fashion and we're excited to see what they do for the series finale.  Make sure to set those DVRs to go a minute or two extra, because you'll be hugely unhappy if the show runs a minute long and you miss out.

He may be America's favorite serial killer, but that doesn't mean we can keep on getting a look into his life forever.  Tonight begins the last season of "Dexter."  Will he escape whatever happens this year and kill again?  Will his 'dark passenger' send him along a path that will lead to his demise?  There are just so many possibilities for Dexter, for his family, for his friends, that the series could head down any number of roads this season.  Will that conclusion, whatever it is, be satisfying?  By late September we'll know, but the final trip starts tonight.

If you watch the news, you'll hear tons of stories all about how serial killers are bad guys, about how they go out and attack the innocent and generally make a terrible nuisance of themselves.  Well, we submit to you, that Dexter Morgan isn't that type of serial killer and that the news really ought to take Dexter's case into account before it goes spouting such nonsense.  Does Dexter travel with a 'dark passenger?'  Absolutely, but he channels that passenger into an outlet for good, dishing out justice to the bad guys.  What will happen to Dexter, his passenger, his friends, and his family tonight on the season finale?  We'd tell you, but then we'd have to kill you.

How do we explain to you why you should watch the season premiere tonight without delving greatly into what happened in the previous season's finale?  Giving those details away is, generally, something we would avoid as there are those out there who would yell 'spoiler' at the top of their lungs.  Let us say this then -- "Dexter" seasons have (at least recently) ended with some pretty explosive bombshells and season six was no exception.  You really need to go see that finale and tune in tonight.  Trust us, you're going to be happy that you did.

Has there even been a serial killer whom it has been more fun to watch?  That may sound wrong, but there really is something special about Dexter Morgan.  What we wouldn't give to see Dexter Morgan go head to head with Hannibal Lecter.  What you have there are the best and the worst fictional serial killers of our age.  It would be the serial killer grudge match of the century, like "Freddy vs. Jason," but with serial killers.  Maybe that will be season seven of the Showtime series.  Probably not, but it could happen.

Dexter hasn't exactly had an easy life over the course of the past five seasons of this show, but if we're being honest, the problem is kind of his own making.  Dark passenger stuff aside, Dexter has a tendency to go out and kill people, and even if they're bad people, Dexter's killing them has caused him some serious issues.  Also, his fascination with other serial killers hasn't particularly helped him, now has it?  We love him dearly, but the guy has some issues.  Hopefully he'll be able to lay off the killing this time out (we're not exactly holding our breath though).

Okay, by this point everyone probably has their favorite season of "Dexter."  We can understand if this one isn't yours (we aren't going to be stating our favorite season), but we don't think that means that you can afford to miss the season finale.  Do you not remember how last season ended?  Surely you recall that utterly amazing, shocking, and dare we say 'bloody great,' finale?  In light of that, how can you possibly suggest that you might not tune in tonight.  You'd have to be some kind of stone cold serial killer to miss it.

Did you watch the last season of "Dexter?"  Holy cow, what an ending.  Now, if you haven't seen it you really need not worry, for the new season it seems like much of the past will have been washed away.  So, basically, here's what you need to know - there's this guy and his name is Dexter.  Dexter is a serial killer, the kind who only kills bad guys.  Also, Dexter works for the police.  Both he and the show are just excellent.  Trust us, it's funny and serious, and heartwarming and bloodcurdling.

Showtime's Emmy and Golden Globe favorite "Dexter" returns for its fourth killer season.

When last we left Dexter, he and Rita were celebrating their nuptials, but did anybody really expect that everything was going to become normal and hunky-dorky for the killer/blood-spatter expert? Of course not.

Complications arise when a new serial killer, the notorious Trinity Killer, moves to town, piquing Dexter's interest and bringing Agent Lundy back to Miami as well.

John Lithgow joins the cast as a regular.
