After five seasons of polygamist fun, "Big Love" ends tonight. We're really not sure that it's all going to end well either. It might, everything might work out brilliantly for the Henricksons, but a pat happy ending doesn't really seem like the way the series is going to go out. No, we think instead there will be some sort of ambiguous open-ended conclusion. It might not be quite so open-ended as "The Sopranos," but who knows, maybe it will be. You know that you're dying to find out.

This is it people, the final season of the HBO show on polygamy. After these last 10 episodes air we're only going to have the basic cable reality series "Sister Wives" to give us the scoop on exactly how things are done in polygamist families. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that other show, but we feel like "Big Love" has given us the real story on exactly how things go down in a polygamist family. Surely they all own multiple houses, have a little casino business in addition to a series of hardware stores, and run for public office. Why wouldn't they run for public office, they have a massive family to vote for them, right?

We are amazed with Bill Henrickson. He's got three wives, got a fourth lady pregnant, runs a series of home improvement stores as well as a casino, and yet for some reason decided that it would be a genius idea to run for state senate so that after winning he can reveal to the world that he is a polygamist. We love the three wives and admire his stamina at having gotten a fourth woman pregnant as well as his ability to run two different businesses, but the state senate plan leaves us perplexed. We vaguely recall our English teacher once telling us about something called 'hubris' and this seems like that. The season finale is tonight, so we'll just have to see if there's a fall.

Nominated for three Golden Globes this year, "Big Love" is returning to HBO this evening and God only knows what we'd do without it. We're in for a nine-episode season which means that life ought to progress pretty rapidly for Bill Henrickson and his rather large family. We're told that storylines this year will include the opening of the casino, more shenanigans at Juniper Creek, and Bill possibly eyeing some sort of public office. Come on now, don't think like that - surely Bill's three wives will make it easier for him to find the time to run for office, not harder.

For many critics, the third season of HBO's "Big Love" has been the show's finest yet.
In the finale, titled "Sacrament," Bill continues with his plan to finally vanquish Roman and the Greenes and he finds an unexpected ally. The ongoing casino dispute also moves toward resolution.
"Big Love" has already been renewed for a fourth season, so the polygamous hijinks will continue.
