Bryan Singer says he'll be able to 'correct a few things' in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'

Does Singer view this as a reset? And who is Hoult psyched to meet?

RICHMOND, ENGLAND - Earlier this week, I was sitting in the drafty, damp, historically epic recesses of the Hampton Court Palace chatting with "Jack the Giant Slayer" director Bryan Singer and star Nicholas Holt.

Most of our conversations revolved, of course, around their upcoming 3D reimagining of the classic fairy tale, which opens on March 1 at theaters everywhere. But that doesn't mean that I didn't sneak in a question or two about Singer and Hoult's upcoming work on "X-Men: Days of Future Past," which will begin production in April and will hit theaters in 2014.

"This movie's gonna be not only quite epic, 'Days of Future Past,' but it also takes place in completely different times than the 'X Men' movies have taken place," Singer told me. "There'll be new technology, new things we haven't seen before in 'X-Men' films. Certain characters and certain story and certain drama that hasn't be done yet, so it's not so much sequel. It's more of its own kinda thing."

I like, however, Singer's reaction to my follow-up using the word "reset."

"I'll be able to correct a few things," he hints, with a smile.

As for Hoult, making his second appearance as Hank McCoy and Beast, he wouldn't give away details, but he admitted to excitement about getting to work with original "X Men" castmembers like Hugh Jackman and Ian McKellen.

"As much as it felt like a real 'X Men' film last time, because we were all a new cast it almost felt like it didn't, whereas doing one with those guys is going to feel very much like..." he said, before adding that he's going to be like a big fanboy.

Check out the video above.

And stay tuned for more of my interviews from Hampton Court as we get closer to the "Jack the Giant Slayer" release date.

The only film that they need to pretend never happened was the "Origins: Wolverine" one, for plenty of reasons but none more so than how they ruined Deadpool. The rest are all perfectly acceptable and don't really need to be "fixed" much that I can tell.

Granted, I'd love to see the comic's version of the Phoenix story as opposed to the split-personality plot they created for X-Men 3. But that would be a massive undertaking and I can understand why they went the route they did just based on circumstances.

Primogen I thought that X-Men 3 was an entertaining action-adventure film with some terrific set pieces and a good storyline involving "the cure." My only complaints is that so many characters will killed off or otherwise neutralized, and that both Cyclops and Jean were underutilized.

purple The X-Men movies had decent storylines but, especially for the period in times for which they were made, sub par action. Wolverine hands down above average in that aspect. Way above. Sorry that's a fact.

Bunny Colvin I believe his problems are quite numerous, but the article and interview are great! Also, have you guys considered hiring a 7th grader? They could break down episodes of Spongebob and the new Justin Bieber album.

People loved First Class and thought that was the reset... I'm worried about his corrections. Ugh.

I'm just hoping Kelsey Grammar comes back as "other Beast." He was one of the very few things right with the third film.

Singer is a horrible director. I wish Vaughn stayed on to direct. First Class was the best X-Men movie and really revitalized the franchise. With Singer on board I don't even want to watch Days of Futures Past, even though I really enjoyed that arc.

justin First class was the best xmen?! Are you freaking kidding me? It was the WORST xmen movie. The whole story, lack of action, cheesy special effects. I would even go as far to say I preferred wolverine origins to xmen first class.

I stayed in Hampton Court a year or so ago, and it was warm and cosy, rather than damp and draughty.

Firstly, I cannow wait for this movie to come out, from everything I am hearing it sounds like it is gonna be brilliantly done. Basically if they can all just prentend like Wolverine: Origins never existed then that would be fantastic, as yeah, that movie was so incredibly full of shite that it could have backed up a toilet for weeks.

X-Men 3 I really hope they don't overly acknowledge either, other than to use the characters/actors from it, other than the Juggernaut, which don't get me wrong, I love the character, but he was done justice in that movie by any stretch of the imagination.

So long as they can stick to these guidelines it should be a bloody awesome movie. I mean one of the reasons I loved the first two was that Bryan made sure to at least make references to the comics ["What would you refer, yellow spandex?"], which is something I greatly look forward to seeing in the next movie :)

Mark I agree about 70%... first Hugh Jackman is good. Second one dimensional movies are hard in a line of sequels not to mention multi charectors. 3 Ryan Reynolds was breaking some versatility chops!
