NBC's Bill Cosby project will not move forward

No script was ever turned in, nor was a pilot officially ordered

As new accusations of rape and sexual impropriety are levied against Bill Cosby, the comedy legend's broadcast partners are, predictably, pulling back.

One day after Netflix announced that it was postponing the premiere date for the comedy special "Bill Cosby 77" (and one day after former supermodel Janice Dickinson told Entertainment Tonight that Cosby raped her in 1982), NBC confirms that it will not be moving forward with plans to bring Cosby back to TV with a new pilot.

TV Ratings: 'NCIS: New Orleans' leads CBS, 'MasterChef Junior' dips, 'Flash' rises on Tuesday

ABC's 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' and NBC's 'Marry Me' and 'About a Boy' are up

Fast National ratings for Tuesday, November 18, 2014.

"NCIS" and "NCIS: Los Angeles" were both up week-to-week, leading CBS to a dominant overall win and a tight victory among young viewers on Tuesday.

Tuesday primetime featured a lot of little week-to-week fluctuations, including "New Girl" and "The Mindy Project" both rising a tiny bit despite a drop for "MasterChef Junior."

Over on ABC, a "Shark Tank" repeat comfortably outperformed recent comedy block numbers and helped "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." inch up. Presumably that "Shark Tank" repeat also was responsible for some of the "MasterChef" decline, though that's total speculation.

Most of the night's increases and decreases were pretty minimal, but "NCIS: New Orleans" added nearly two million viewers over last week's airing, which came against the second half of a two-hour "The Voice," rather than NBC's significantly lower-rated comedies. And even those NBC comedies were way up from their last airing, though that airing was after a "Voice" clip show.

And both of The CW's dramas ticked up week-to-week. It was the most watched "Supernatural" since January.

Tom Hardy's 'Taboo' lands at FX

Steven Knight is creating the 1813-set period revenge drama

FX has landed American distribution for the BBC One drama "Taboo" starring Tom Hardy.

Set to begin production in the UK in mid-to-late 2015, "Taboo" won't actually premiere on FX until mid-2016, which is the kind of long-term planning you have to do when you're dealing with the star of "The Dark Knight Rises," "Bronson" and "Locke."

Dan and Alan answer mail touching on 'Arrow,' Bill Cosby and the 'Serial' podcast

The

Happy Tuesday, Boys & Girls!

Time for an All-Mailbag Edition of The Firewall & Iceberg Podcast.

Nobody bothered to schedule anything new for us to review this week and, as a result, we dipped into our overflowing mailbag for a sextet of queries that allow us to check in on "Arrow" and "Black-ish," touch on recent news involving Bill Cosby and Glen Larson and, for the first time in Firewall & Iceberg history, to discuss in another podcast, in this case "Serial."

And next week? It's an All-Grumpy Cat Podcast. No. Really. It may be heavy on Grumpy Cat if y'all don't send in more great messages.

Oh and in answer to your question: Yes, we probably spoil things from the first eight installments of "Serial," but I'm not sure we spoiled anything that will actually spoil the experience of listening to "Serial" from scratch, though I could be wrong.

Here's today's breakdown:
Listener Mail: NBC's Bill Cosby Comedy (00:01:45 - 00:09:15)
Listener Mail: Glen Larson's passing (00:09:25 - 00:18:05)

TV Ratings: 'State of Affairs' can't match 'Blacklist' as NBC splits Monday

'Scorpion' is Monday's most-watched scripted show

Fast National ratings for Monday, November 17, 2014.

The series premiere of "State of Affairs" fell short of the normal numbers for "The Blacklist," but the Katherine Heigl drama still helped NBC win Monday night in the key demographic, though it lost to "Castle" as part of ABC's overall sweep.

Most of the other Monday originals were pretty steady, with a tiny uptick for FOX's "Gotham" and for CBS' "2 Broke Girls" and "NCIS: Los Angeles."

ABC had the Monday Night Football preemption in both -- Nashville and Pittsburgh -- markets, so expect some adjustments.

'Mike & Molly' takes over for 'The Millers' in December

Get ready for a four-episode mini-marathon on December 1

The nice thing about having an established show on the bench for midseason is that you can use it to fill a scheduling hole with only limited promotion.

Just days after confirming the somewhat abrupt cancellation of "The Millers," CBS has scheduled a December premiere for the Emmy-winning comedy "Mike & Molly."

'Sleepy Hollow' extra Bearded Man Walking Away From Bar tells all

'Sleepy Hollow' extra Bearded Man Walking Away From Bar tells all

The glamour and backstory of The Fien Print's 'Sleepy Hollow' cameo

The episode description for Monday (November 17) night's "Sleepy Hollow" episode, titled "Mama," teases that Jenny and Abbie will "come face-to-face with their past" and mentions a series of mysterious deaths and "an especially surprising spirit."

No mention is made of resolution to last week's cliffhanger involving Bearded Man Walking Away From Bar.

That, unfortunately, is the life of an extra. You dedicate minutes -- whole minutes! -- to crafting an interior life for a character who may not even have a name in the official record, you work to hone that personal narrative so that it has a beginning, a middle and an end, you improvise and refine your performance, but then you watch the finished product and your entire arc has been reduced to nearly nothing, the faintest whisper of a story. In fact, if you end up being able to spot the back of your head, the outer edge of your shoulder or the shadow of your beard bathed in a sea of green light, that counts as a triumph.

If you watched last week's "Sleepy Hollow" and you also follow me on Twitter, you may have very briefly spotted me in a scene that took place two-thirds of the way through the episode.

HBO orders star-studded 'Westworld' to series

Evan Rachel Wood, Anthony Hopkins and Jeffrey Wright star

HBO has picked up its star-studded "Westworld" pilot to series, an entirely unsurprising development given the creative talent on both sides of the camera.

"Inspired by" the 1973 film from writer-director Michael Crichton, HBO's "Westworld" was written and directed by "Person of Interest" creator Jonathan Nolan, co-written by Lisa Joy and will be executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk and Jerry Weintraub.

TV Ratings: Patriots-Colts game leads Sunday, while 2-hour 'Once' boosts ABC

NBC wins Sunday night as per usual

Fast National ratings for Sunday, November 16, 2014.

The NFL action between the Patriots and Colts helped NBC roll to an easy Sunday night ratings win in all key measures, holding off NFL-boosted FOX and slightly NFL-boosted CBS both in the key demo and overall.

Because of the football it's hard to say whether or not "Bob's Burgers" benefitted from its new post-"Family Guy" time period. And, as always, it's hard to get a sense or comparative performance from CBS' Sunday drama, though it's worth noting that CBS' NFL delays/preemptions were minimal.

The night's other variation was ABC's two-hour block of "Once Upon a Time," which came in collectively below last week's single episode, but still easily improved the 9 p.m. hour and helped "Revenge" to some small growth.

'Gotham' star Erin Richards won't spoil Barbara's secrets

'Gotham' star will discuss Barbara's complexities and her fancy apartment

"Gotham" star Erin Richards stopped by the HitFix offices last week, which was a pleasant surprise because she has spent so much of her fall cooped up in Barbara Kean and James Gordon's rather palatial apartment. And even when she got out of the apartment two weeks ago, it was to get abducted in the middle of a clash between two of Gotham's warring mob elements.

Actually, no. Not "abducted." Richards correctly takes exception to my wording.

"It was a bit more of a feminist move," she protests. "She wasn't just a little pawn moving around. She went, 'I'm gonna go fight for my man' and she went and fought for him."

And Richards also insists she hasn't been claustrophobic spending most of her time in that apartment set this season.

"It's a really nice apartment and she spent a lot of money on that apartment and we should see it as much as possible," she laughs.
