While Barb couldn't catch a break on Netflix's Stranger Things, the actress who plays her -- newcomer Shannon Purser -- has done just that, with a three-episode stint (at least) on Season 1 of the CW's Archie Comics series Riverdale, as reported by EW and later confirmed by Purser on Twitter:

Purser will play the unfortunately-named character Ethel Muggs, conceived in the original comics (in horribly sexist fashion) as a tall, bucktoothed Riverdale High student who aggressively vies for the romantic affections of Jughead. In Riverdale, however, Ethel will be entangled "with someone very different." Additionally, she'll befriend Veronica (Camila Mendes) and Betty (Lili Reinhart) in the midst of the duo's revenge plot against Archie's long-time nemesis Reggie Mantle (Ross Butler).

Riverdale is slated to premiere on the CW in midseason.
