We’ve all been wondering where The Hulk is headed. Now we may have some answers. Be warned, mention of the conclusion of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” follows…

Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk flew off into a mysterious future during the final climactic sequences of Joss Whedon’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” Fans have been speculating about what may have become of Bruce Banner and his giant green alter ego for months, now.

Marvel reveals secrets of "Captain America: Civil War"

Recently, the team breakdowns for the upcoming “Captain America: Civil War” were revealed and, as expected, The Hulk was not involved on either side of the ideological split between Iron Man and Captain America. Of course, Spider-Man and Scarlet Witch weren’t accounted for, either, but we know they will both be in the final film.

Having said that, many had assumed that Bruce Banner would not take part in the epic superhero battle. However, Mark Ruffalo has now revealed that the character was originally a part of the story, but that Marvel has bigger plans in store for him.

“The reason [for his disappearance] is too great to be revealed in this movie [Civil War],” Ruffalo said in an interview with BadTaste.it (via Coming Soon) “I was in the script but then they removed my character. They don’t want to reveal where is he and why. I don’t even know if Hulk will be back soon.”

Here’s what’s interesting: In an interview I did with Ruffalo for IGN during the press tour for “Avengers: Age of Ultron” the actor said quite definitively that The Hulk would be “going to space.” That sounds a lot like a “big” reason for his absence in the cinematic version of “Civil War,” which as we know will not follow the comic directly.

Now, there are some complicated rights issues for a standalone Hulk movie between Marvel Studios, Walt Disney Studios, and Universal Pictures, so we aren’t likely to see a standalone “Planet Hulk” movie any time soon. However, that doesn’t mean that the character can’t and won’t act as a potential bridge between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the Cosmic characters.

Could The Hulk cross paths with Rocket, Groot, Gamora, Star-Lord, and Drax in the upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy 2”? It’s certainly possible, and could make some sense as we head towards Marvel's “Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2,” which the character is slated to be a part of.

We'll be talking about this in more detail in the days and weeks to come. For now, you have your say in the comments! Where and how do you think we may see The Hulk next? Are you disappointed that it won’t be in “Captain America: Civil War”?
