Today is August 8, which is the birthday for the eight lead characters of Netflix's globe-spanning sci-fi drama "Sense8," and as a birthday present to them, and the show's fans, Netflix announced the order for a second season this way on Twitter:

I was lukewarm about "Sense8" at first, but quickly grew to be impressed by its scope and its command of emotion. It's a wildly uneven show, but great when it hits, and the sort of ambitious project that could really only exist at an outfit like Netflix. I'm very glad it will be back. (Also, now it makes sense that Netflix brought the show to press tour last week but didn't announce a renewal; they were waiting for Sense8 Day.)
