‘Secret Life of Pets’ hits box office milestone, sets sequel release date
The numbers prove that plenty of movie-goers are curious about what their dogs and cats are up to when they’re gone, especially if it means seeing an adorable animated take on that question.
The Secret Life of Pets crossed the $400 million mark at the worldwide box office this week. Following that achievement, Universal Pictures announced that the animated flick’s sequel is scheduled for July 13, 2018.
So Secret Life will join the sequel game alongside fellow Illumination Entertainment franchise Despicable Me/Minions.
Secret Life had the best-ever U.S. opening weekend for an original film (not a sequel, not based on a book), amassing $104.3 million when it hit theaters in early July.
