O Captain! My Captain!

Saturday Night Live alum Jason Sudeikis will be “live” once again as he’ll star in the off-Broadway version of Dead Poets Society.

In the production at the Classic Stage Company, Sudeikis will take on the role of John Keating. This was the same part for which Robin Williams earned an Academy Award nomination in 1989.

The play’s director John Doyle said in a statement, “I felt it important that we find an actor like Jason who brings a fresh perspective, and all at CSC are delighted that he will be joining us for this unique venture.”

The script for Dead Poets Society will come from a familiar pen, as Tom Schulman - who earned an Oscar for Best Screenplay - will adapt it for stage. No other casting details have been released.

Dead Poets Society will go into previews on October 27, with the opening slated for November 17.
