Bruce Wayne’s life is going to change irrevocably on the upcoming season of Fox’s “Gotham,” according to David Mazouz who plays the young Dark Knight-in-the-making on the series.

The series will further explore a hidden lair that many fans would assume is the Batcave, but the actor assures is not.

“It changes everything in Bruce’s life,” Mazouz told TVInsider (via ComingSoon) in an interview about the hidden space he discovered in the Season 1 finale. “It changes how he sees Alfred, the criminal side of Gotham, even how he sees his parents.”

This isn’t the lair some might imagine it to be, though. “It’s definitely not the Batcave,” Mazouz assured. “What is down there are clues to Thomas Wayne’s secret life and what he was trying to do before being killed.”

Meanwhile, the new trailer for the upcoming season focuses on the “rising villains” with a big emphasis on teasing The Joker.

The series has been laying the groundwork for The Joker for some time, and given the ratings decline during the latter half of its freshman season the creators may need to bring in that big gun earlier than expected.

What do you think? Can the power of The Joker and a nascent "not Batcave"...but kind of Batcave draw the "Gotham" audience back in?
