Michael Dougherty's 2009 anthology "Trick 'r Treat" could be the second best Halloween-themed horror movie ever, and for fans who have been eagerly awaiting a sequel good news has arrived like a bowl of full-size Snickers left out on a porch with an ill-considered sign reading "Please Take ONE": a sequel to the cult fright flick is definitely in the cards.

“It’s gonna happen,” Dougherty told IGN during an interview to promote his upcoming Christmas-themed horror movie "Krampus" (trailer embedded above and below). "The tricky thing is, as we were announcing 'Trick 'r Treat 2' [in October 2013], I was finishing the screenplay for 'Krampus' with my co-writers, and...if we didn't do it, someone else was going to....lo and behold, there are multiple Krampus projects in the works. The momentum just sort of picked us up and carried us off. Thats not to say that 'Trick ‘r Treat 2' has not been simmering in the background. But I wanna get it right, I don’t wanna rush it.”
