Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Fuller House' theme is the best thing about the show
Carly Rae Jepsen, the pop queen who emerged like Athena from the skull of Canadian Idol, has unleashed her full version of the Full House theme. It will serve as the theme to the Netflix reboot Fuller House. Is it worthy of a standing ovation at the Smash Club?
I'd compare this peppy cover to Lady Gaga's David Bowie tribute at the Grammys: It's a proper homage to the spirit of the original, but the new version isn't retro at all. In fact, this sounds like any old Carly Rae Jepsen single (off her first album, not E-MO-TION). Since Fuller House is driven by the performances of three women, it's cool to hear a distinctly girlish take on "Everywhere You Look." As such, it does one thing that Fuller House does not: succeed at existing in 2016 without making you question your childhood judgment.
