Amy Schumer is getting her first HBO special. You won't believe who's directing.
Amy Schumer, the Comedy Central wunderkind who destroyed sexist TV critics and the filmography of Henry Fonda with her "12 Angry Men" parody, is getting her own HBO special. That's not a surprise considering her one-hour Comedy Central special "Mostly Sex Stuff" is the network's highest-rated since 2011. What is surprising is who's directing the HBO outing. It's also perfect.
Chris Rock is set to direct the special, which will tape at New York's Apollo Theater May 29. Could this be more perfect? Rock is just the right person to helm this event, seeing as his "Bring the Pain" remains the gold standard in cable standup. Hope Schumer can remain f*ckable 'til the 29th!
