Alien: Covenant is in "early discussions" with an unlikely new actor: Eastbound & Down star Danny McBride, known to fans of the HBO comedy series as former Major League Baseball player Kenny Powers. According to The Wrap, the comedian (whose role is unspecified) will join Michael Fassbender and fellow franchise newcomer Katherine Waterston in the upcoming Ridley Scott sci-fi, a sequel to Prometheus that will take place ten years after the events depicted in the 2012 film. Noomi Rapace is not expected to reprise her role as Elizabeth Shaw despite the character surviving to the end of the last installment.

Alien: Covenant is slated for release on October 6, 2017.
