Anne Hathaway hosted the Oscars with a spiritually absent James Franco in 2011 and won an Academy Award during a period of notable Hathaway backlash. It's fair to say she has the strangest relationship with the Oscars of any living human being. We told her this. She laughed -- then agreed.

"That might be true," she said. "But I'm really excited when you watch people grow through it the first time. That energy is a very real thing. Like right now I'm really excited for Eddie Redmayne... He's an incredible actor, so hard-working, and he's killed it in every role he's ever had, whether he's had one line or he's singing an aria in 'Les Miz.'"

Check out our interview to see Hathaway, the star of the new and intense drama "Song One" out January 23, discuss the character she misses playing most, the time she met Barbra Streisand, and her love for J.K. Simmons.
