Well, color me surprised. The first trailer for Syfy's "12 Monkeys" TV adaptation actually looks pretty cool.

Described as a "complete sort of reimagining" by co-creator Terry Matalas at the TCA Summer Press Tour, the new show stars Aaron Stanford as James Cole (played by Bruce Willis in Terry Gilliam's 1995 film version), a man living in a post-apocalyptic future who travels back to the past to try and eradicate the source of the plague that wiped out a large chunk of the human population. Written by Matalas and Travis Fickett ("Nikita," "Terra Nova"), the series also stars Amanda Schull, Noah Bean, and Kirk Acevedo.
