Howard does his damndest, though, in Malcolm D. Lee's sequel to 1999's "The Best Man." He and costars Morris Chestnut, Taye Diggs and Harold Perrineau actually do a pretty mean New Edition impression. It's one part of the partly physical comedy of "Holiday," which also features Melissa de Sousa's Shelby in a knock-down, drag-out fight with Regina Halls' Candace.
"We worked so hard," she said on preparing for the fight, mentioning she wants the MTV Movie Awards to take notice for their "Best Fight" contender.
De Sousa said, laughing, she returned to work with the filmmaker because she got free dinner; Howard went with something along similar lines: "My hesitation was always money. 'How much y'all gonna pay us?'"
The boisterous actor's comments, seemingly in jest, seem to ring eerily close to some of Howard's issues with his non-return to the "Iron Man" franchise after the first film. Read all about that here, and watch the rest of our video interview above.
"The Best Man Holiday" is in theaters today (Nov. 15).
