'Terminator: Genisys'' Jai Courtney in talks for 'Suicide Squad' role: Is it Deadshot?
"Terminator: Genisys" star Jai Courtney may be close to nabbing a role in yet another big-screen franchise.
The "A Good Day to Die Hard" actor is in talks for a "major role" in Warner Bros.' forthcoming "Suicide Squad" movie that may be Batman nemesis Deadshot, according to Variety. The David Ayer-directed film is also reportedly eyeing a number of other A-list stars including Tom Hardy (Rick Flag), Will Smith (possibly Captain Boomerang), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) and Jared Leto (the Joker), though no actors have yet been cast.
As depicted in their most recent incarnation, the "Suicide Squad" is a team of supervillains who are given a chance at redemption by embarking on a number of high-risk black-ops missions for the U.S. government. Deadshot is a skilled assassin known for his trademark metallic faceplate and cybernetic eye. Created by Bob Kane, David Vern Reed and Lew Schwartz, he first appeared in Batman #59 and has since become one of the Dark Knight's most well-known adversaries.
As for Courtney, he's been building up quite the impressive resume over the last several years, with recent big-screen credits including "Jack Reacher," "I, Frankenstein" and "Divergent." He'll next be seen in the Angelina Jolie's awards-season contender "Unbroken" starring Jack O'Connell.
