Maya Rudolph is Sam Rockwell's No. 1 fan.

Or at least a "huge fan," as the actress put it while speaking to HitFix at the Sundance premiere of her new comedy "The Way, Way Back," in which she stars opposite the "Seven Psychopaths" thesp.

"I loved just getting to play stuff with Sam Rockwell, it was such a pleasure, such an honor," she told us. "And on top of that, I was working with [co-writer/directors] Jim [Rash] and Nat [Faxon], who are my friends, so anything...that Sam and I were creating was with them too. It was great."

Of course, it would be nice if all that stuff actually makes the final cut of the film; with an ensemble cast that includes Steve Carell, Toni Collette, Amanda Peet, Alison Janney, Rob Corddry and AnnaSophia Robb, you never know when you might be crowded out.

"It's so funny when you talk about this stuff and you're like, 'Oh, I've never seen the movie. I hope I'm still in it,'" joked Rudolph. "So that would be exciting."
