This isn't your grandmother's "Godzilla."
Get your best look yet at the latest iteration of the King of the Monsters in the new extended trailer for director Gareth Edward's mega-budget reimagining of the classic franchise, which stars Bryan Cranston as a nuclear physicist who loses his wife (Juliette Binoche) in an explosion at the plant where he works - only to later be faced with the potentially world-ending ramifications of his chosen field.
In addition to even more stunningly realistic visuals of destruction - including a giant tidal wave unleashed by the beast's ascent from the depths of the ocean - there's also a surprising amount of emotion in the new trailer, as we see Cranston's character being forced to sacrifice his wife in order to stop the further spread of the nuclear accident that happens early in the film.

"Godzilla" hits theaters on May 16.
