Gerard Butler doesn't negotiate with terrorists in new 'Olympus Has Fallen' trailer
Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman also star in presidential spin on 'Die Hard' formula
"Olympus Has Fallen" is ready to fall into theaters. A new trailer gives you an idea of the film's action chops, grim-faced heroics and zippy one-liners.
Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day") directed this "Die Hard"-meets-"Air Force One" genre exercise, in which disgraced ex-secret service agent Mike Banning ("300's" Gerard Butler) faces down a bunch of terrorists, led by "Fast and Furious'" Rick Yune) in the White House. In "Olympus," "The Dark Knight's" D.A. Aaron Eckhart has been promoted to president, while "Deep Impact's" Morgan Freeman just plays the acting president.
Angela Bassett, Melissa Leo, Dylan McDermott and Ashley Judd also star.
Some of the trailer's action and effects look a little on the cheap side, no doubt due to the fact that "Olympus" went through a very speedy production and post process in order to beat Roland Emmerich's similarly-themed "White House Down" into theaters. The latter stars Channing Tatum, James Woods and Jamie Foxx, and opens in June.
"Olympus Has Fallen" opens March 22.
