"If pornography was high school, we would be the goth table."

That immortal line opens the very first trailer for "Kink," a new James Franco-produced documentary that centers on an adult website catering to the underground BDSM (Bondage-Discipline-Sadism-Masochism) community. As far as I'm aware, the extent of Franco's involvement is as a behind-the-scenes player, which is either a shame or a blessing depending on who you're talking to.

Premiering at this week's Sundance Film Festival, "Kink" was directed by Christina Voros, who previously worked with Franco on a short doc about the making of Danny Boyle's 2010 survival flick "127 Hours." "Cast members" include such bold-faced performers as Princess Donna, Maitresse Madeline and Jessie Colter - most of whom, as one talking head is careful to note, are normal, run-of-the-mill, everyday people who just happen to enjoy being tied up and humiliated.

For those interested in taking a closer look at this oft-misunderstood subculture, the trailer itself is certainly intriguing, though it's bound to turn off (ha) those "casual observer(s)" who find themselves a little creeped out by ball gags, zipper masks and the like. So which camp are you in? Check out the full clip below to find out.
