Catwoman steps on Batman in new 'Dark Knight Rises' poster

Looks like Anne Hathaway is wearing some serious heels

Meee-ouch!

Although the trailers have so far made Catwoman/Selina Kylie (Anne Hathaway) out to be less of a villain and more of a somewhat ambiguous love interest for Batman/Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale), this latest poster reminds us that this kitten has claws (sorry), and that Bane (Tom Hardy) isn't the only baddie out to break the Bat.

Juxtaposing the kiss with the stiletto-meets-batarang image (in the rain no less) illustrates the confounding duality of the Catwoman character: Sexy and capable of genuine emotion, yet still cold, manipulative and criminal minded. It's also of a piece with the initial poster which featured a triumphant Bane walking away from a broken and battered bat cowl (also in the rain -- what is this, "Blade Runner"?). The final Batman film from "Inception" director Christopher Nolan, "The Dark Knight Rises" also finds Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine reprising their respective supporting roles, with newcomers Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard also joining the fray.

"The Dark Knight Rises" opens nationwide July 20.
