Best and Worst of the 2012 Tony Awards: 'Once,' Neil Patrick Harris, Audra McDonald
Plus: Ricky Martin and more
For most Americans, the Tony Awards represent their first and only real exposure to the best that Broadway has to offer and, once again, the Tonys welcomed Neil Patrick Harris as host and tour guide for the evening. How did Harris do in his third tour of hosting duty? Did he set himself up for more Emmy recognition or will it be time to move on to a new host next year? And which shows paved the way for strong summers and lucrative touring companies ("Once") and which shows are likely to be Monday's punchlines ("Ghost: The Musical")? Which presenters and acceptance speeches shined and who's probably relieved that the Tonys are watched by a fraction of the Emmys/Oscars/Grammys audience?

June 11, 2012 at 8:04AM EST Reply to CommentI cannot for the life of me understand the wild popularity Neil Patrick Harris enjoys. He is not funny. He is a mediocre singer. He is a mediocre dancer. He reminds me of what Howdy Doody would look like if Howdy was a little wiseguy punk. And what is up with that smug, Snidely Whiplash curl of the eyebrows every 5 seconds? Is that supposed to be funny???? Can't the producers of The Tonys find somebody better than this Howdy Doody ass clown???
