10 Stories You Might Have Missed: Natalie Portman lines up roles in sci-fi film and biopic
Natalie Portman and her agents have been busy this week. The Oscar winner lined up two roles in what sound like starkly different movies.
The first is an exciting team-up of the actress with “Ex Machina” director Alex Garland for his adaptation of Jeff VanderMeer sci-fi novel “Annihilation.” Variety reports that Portman is in early talks for that project, which Scott Rudin will produce. The book is about an expedition of four women sent into an unknown region called Area X, where they must report back to the government on weird phenomena in the place where the laws of nature don’t apply.
Portman is also set to play Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in “On the Basis of Sex.” The film is based on the career of the second-ever female justice, who was appointed in 1993 by then-President Clinton. Deadline first reported the news.
