Record Store Day 2012
The point of Record Store Day is to highlight those brick and mortar stores which specialize in selling music to you, the consumer. Such places may be a dying breed, but they're still considered invaluable resources by many out there. This is the fifth annual Record Store Day and there is a monster slate of albums coming out.
Titles released and only available first in a brick and mortar record store, and broken into three categories:
Exclusive releases- available exclusively on Record Store Day at participating stores, and will not be available anywhere else in the same format. Bands and artists include The Flaming Lips, Joan Baez, David Bowie, Lana Del Ray, and Pete Townsend.
Limited run/regional focus releases- exclusively available on Record Store Day at participating stores, but quantities are limited, usually under 1000 units. Bands and artists include: Death Cab for Cutie, Neon Indian, and Chuck Persons.
Record Store Day First Release- titles can be found on Record Store Day at participating stores. Generally released to other retailers four to six weeks later. Artists include Ozzy Osbourne, Janis Joplin, Patti Smith and Lou Reed.
