Poly Styrene - Generation Indigo Pop
Generation Indigo is the latest solo album from Poly Styrene, a woman probably still best known as the lead singer for X-Ray Spex, one of the most distinctive of England's first generation of punk bands. Generation Indigo was produced by Martin Glover (Killing Joke's Youth) and was trailed by first single "Virtual Boyfriend". Styrene's battle against breast cancer has ended in her death yesterday. She was 53.
Produced during her struggle with the disease, Styrene produced one of the most upbeat records of the year. Beat that, indie-mopers.
"Some people say that little girls should be seen and not heard, But I say, 'Oh, bondage! Up yours!'"
