Tom Hanks in 'Captain Phillips,' which opens this year's New York Film Festival

Tonight, The New York Film Festival kicks off its 51st year.  The fest is going to open with the world premiere of Paul Greengrass' latest movie, "Captain Phillips," which stars Tom Hanks.  It is based on the true story of the hijacking of the Maersk Alabama and is due to open theatrically on October 11th.  

Other notable films this year include Ben Stiller's "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty," and the fest, which starts tonight, is scheduled to run through October 13th.  The fest closes with "Her" from Spike Jonze.
