Sundance Film Festival

Hollywood and the international film industry will once again descend upon Park City, Utah for the Sundance Film Festival. The festival was begun in 1978, although it didn't move to Park City until 1981 and wasn't called the Sundance Film Festival until a few years after that. The festival has continued to grow through the years and has highlighted some of the best new works by some of the most creative minds around.
The 2013 festival opens today and will run through January 27th.

Every January, for a few short weeks, the population of Park City, Utah swells to unbelievable numbers before returning to normal, and that is because every January, the Sundance Film Festival is held there. Taking place from today, January 22nd, through the 1st of February, the Sundance Film Festival is a celebration of filmmaking at its finest, in their words bringing together the "Most original storytellers together with the most adventurous audiences for its annual program of dramatic and documentary films, shorts, New Frontier films, installations, performances, panel discussions, and dynamic music events."

Good morning Park City, Utah. It may a cold day out there today, but the Sundance Film Festival is getting started, and if that doesn't warm the cockles of your heart, we don't know what will. Begun by the legendary Robert Redford, the festival has grown in size and scope through the years and promises, on an annual basis, to deliver great movies, interesting performances, and a whole lot to think about.
This year, the Sundance Film Festival runs from the 16th thru the 26th and HitFix will be there to cover it.

Over the course of just over 30 years, the Sundance Film Festival has morphed from a smaller event showcasing strictly American independent work to something much larger. The festival didn't actually take on the name Sundance Film Festival until the mid-'80s. This year it will run from January 19 until January 29.

The 25th edition of world's premier independent film festival begins with "Mary and Max." The Australian animated film features the voices of Philip Seymour Hoffman and Toni Collette.
