<p>Hollywood and the international film industry will once again descend upon Park City, Utah for the Sundance Film Festival. The festival was begun in 1978, although it didn't move to Park City until 1981 and wasn't called the Sundance Film Festival until a few years after that. The festival has continued to grow through the years and has highlighted some of the best new works by some of the most creative minds around. </p> <p>The 2013 festival opens today and will run through January 27th.</p>

Over the course of just over 30 years, the Sundance Film Festival has morphed from a smaller event showcasing strictly American independent work to something much larger. The festival didn't actually take on the name Sundance Film Festival until the mid-'80s. This year it will run from January 19 until January 29.
