Shutter Island [Blu-ray]
Michael Bay and Leonardo DiCaprio are developing a film based on the true story of the Rwandan national biking team and Jacques Boyer, the first American to participate in the Tour de France. Boyer now lives much of the year in Rwanda and since 2007 has led a cycling group called Team Rwanda. One of the team’s first members, Adrien Niyonshuti, became the first ever cyclist from Rwanda to qualify for the Olympics. A documentary called “Rising From Ashes” chronicled the challenges and successes of the team.
Bay and DiCaprio are in talks with Paramount for the untitled project, The Hollywood Reporter revealed on Thursday. Both are planning to produce, though DiCaprio isn’t set to star and Bay’s not looking to produce. For director, they have lined up Orlando von Einsiedel, who helmed “Virunga,” a 2014 Oscar-nominated documentary that DiCaprio executive produced. — Emily Rome
