Meeting Spencer

<p>A scene from 'Meeting Spencer.'</p>

Directed by Malcolm Mowbray, whose "A Private Function," starring Michael Palin and Maggie Smith, is widely considered one of the classic British comedies of the '80s, "Meeting Spencer" is a similarly sophisticated farce set in the world of theater.

In this upscale comedy, Jeffrey Tambor, ("Arrested Development," "The Hangover") takes rare starring role as famed stage director Harris Chappell who returns to New York looking to relaunch his Broadway career after a series of flops in Hollywood. Over a dinner at the fabled Theater Row hangout Frankie & Johnnies with an old flame, Didi (Melinda McGraw), and a struggling actor, Spencer (Jesse Plemons), the once-famous stage director becomes increasingly frantic as his efforts to raise financing for his comeback spiral out of control into a wild night of comic misadventure.
