December 11, 2012 at 12:06PM EST Reply to CommentI am confused by the "breakthrough performance" category, as a number of these nominees are directors, not actors...
Guy Lodge It's clearly meant to be Breakthrough Artist or something along those lines. Not that confusing.

December 11, 2012 at 3:37PM EST Reply to CommentSarah Polley is one of the best young artists around. Actor/writer/director... She does them all well (not to mention her avoiding that whole child star thing) Great to see her receive recognition.

December 11, 2012 at 6:48PM EST Reply to CommentThat's an interesting Director lineup: two women, a Spaniard, an actor-turned-director whom we all wrote off only a few years ago, and David O Russell, who made a nice bounce back from his Lily Tomlin scream-fest.
Matt A hell yeah for The Avengers (IMO the best ensemble so far this year) for ensemble and VERY underrated Cabin in The Woods for screenplay! That's two film critics societies now ( first being San Deigo) to acknowledge the seemingly, incredibly overlooked and great screenplay in Cabin in the Woods.
