'Les Misérables' leads Phoenix critics' nods
'The Avengers' manages a Best Picture nomination

Another hour, another list of critics' award nominations. The Phoenix Film Critics Society is the latest group to toss their picks into the hat, and they've largely favored the Oscar-season favorites -- "Les Misérables" comfortably leads the way with 12 nominations. The Phoenix folk vote in more categories than most such groups, which is all well and good, though I'm not sure how well-equipped most critics are to judge the year's best stunt work. Novelties in the list include a Best Picture nod for "The Avengers" and, in a less populist vein, a mention for Mary Elizabeth Winstead in a Best Actress category that, oddly, only finds room for four names. Check out the full list after the jump, and at The Circuit.

December 11, 2012 at 9:25PM EST Reply to Commentemma watson seems to be showing up a lot lately, something to watch?
Also I'd love to see Ann Dowd get a nomination
The Dude "Perks" was one of the more pleasant surprises of the fall, and I thought Lerman and Miller were outstanding (I'm with Kris, Lerman should be getting more attention). That said, I don't understand the sudden love the critics groups have for Watson...she was fine, but I thought she was the cast's weakest link. At least the film is getting noticed, though.

December 11, 2012 at 9:27PM EST Reply to CommentGuy, Bardem and Dench have gotten a few nominations each lately, do you think they have any shot at a nod or are they just precursor fodder?

December 11, 2012 at 10:42PM EST Reply to CommentEzra Miller again. Holding out hope for a SAG nod tomorrow.
Although how odd for a group that so obviously loves "Perks" to not nominate it in their best ensemble performance category. Inexplicable as far as I'm concerned.
