Coming in 2017 to a theater near year? More women in superheroes movies than you can shake a stick at. Reports are coming in this week from both Marvel and DC Entertainment showing they’re on board with diversifying their casting line-ups.

Last week we reported that actress Pom Klementieff ("Old Boy") was going to be in the next "Guardians of the Galaxy" film. At the time of the announcement her role was not yet announced. Earlier this week Heroic Hollywood confirmed that Klementieff would indeed be playing the role of Mantis.

As editor Donna Dickens previously speculated here, Mantis would be a fantastic role for Klementieff to play. Mantis is known for her relationships with the Kree, the Avengers AND the Guardians, so this announcement fits perfectly into the world Director Gunn is creating within the Marvel universe.

Nicole Kidman also made headlines this week, as The Wrap broke the news of her negotiations to star alongside Gal Gadot in "Wonder Woman". "Wonder Woman" won't hit theaters until 2017, but when it does, we could be seeing Kidman take on the role of an Amazonian warrior, a warrior who could potentially be Wonder Woman's mother, Hyppolyta.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.0" hits theaters May 5, 2017 and "Wonder Woman" hits theaters June 23, 2017.
