Cosplay Spotlight - Mass Effect's Tali'Zorah by Nebulaluben
Cosplay is the art of dressing up as one of your favorite fictional characters. It can be as simple or as complex as you want to make it. But some cosplayers go above and beyond! Every Tuesday, we feature one of these dedicated hobbyists, along with some information about their chosen cosplay. This week the spotlight is on Nebulaluben and her crazy accurate Tali’Zorah cosplay!

What's your name?
Hi! My name is Laura and I'm from Madrid, Spain.
What made you want to cosplay as this?
I already knew what cosplay was from the internet and I liked it. Then in 2008, I attended my first convention (without wearing any costume) and I really liked the environment. I saw lots of cosplayers having fun, the contest... and then I discovered they made their own creations! That was what really made me feel like starting cosplaying. The creativity this hobby involves.
How long did it take to create the costume?
Tali took me about 4 months to make. I spent one month hand painting the white pattern on the purple fabric! Mass Effect costumes are really unique and difficult. They push us to our crafting limits! I made it back in 2011. Then over time I remade some elements such as the catsuit and some ornaments because I wasn't happy with how they initially came out. Since “Mass Effect” is my favorite game, I wanted to make it as accurate as possible and now I'm really happy with the result.
How much did it cost?
Honestly, I don't know. Between 200 and 400€ ($227USD to $455USD) I guess. When I make a costume I try not to worry about the budget. I just check my bank account from time to time, and if everything is ok, I keep on creating. If I see I'm spending too much money, I take a break until I'm able to continue.
Do you have favorite comic-con memory from this cosplay?
I've worn this costume soooo many times. I think it's the one I’ve worn the most. In fact, this weekend I have a super cool photo shoot with it, haha. I just can't stop making “Mass Effect” cosplay plans.
Maybe my favorite memory is when some of my friends and I gathered to make a big “Mass Effect” cosplay group for Expocomic 2013. I had so much fun (I also made the Garrus armor) and we got to take lots of amazing pictures and videos. Also, when I started uploading pictures in this costume I was surprised with people's reaction. It was very positive though being a costume that covers my body from head to toe. I'm pretty proud of that because cosplayers are usually valued for how much skin they show.
