We’ve known since March that Sarah Michelle Gellar would be joining the cast of “Star Wars Rebels” on Disney XD during its second season. But until now, her role has been shrouded in secrecy. Speculation had been rampant, with Gellar herself adding to the fire by announcing she’ll be on the “Rebels” panel at NYCC with this Instagram photo.

Could Princess Leia be set to show up as a Galactic Senator? Maybe. But if so, she won’t be voiced by Gellar because the former vampire slayer is taking up arms once again. Only this time as the villainous Inquisitor known as the Seventh Sister. BuzzFeed has an exclusive video reveal of the Seventh Sister in action.

But who IS the Seventh Sister and how is she connected to the world of the Rebels. According to Gellar:

“I’m an Inquisitor. My character believes that Ahsoka is back and she’s trying to track [her] down; as well as the Rebels. She definitely plays cat-and-mouse with Kanan. All the Inquisitors want to mess with the Jedi. That’s why we’re put on this Earth…galaxy I should say.”

Seventh Sister isn’t the only Inquisitor in this season of “Rebels.” There is also the mysterious Fifth Brother — who doesn’t even have a voice actor attached yet.

So it appears the Inquisitor from last year was not some one-off protege of Darth Vader’s but merely the first in a long line of Sith waiting for a chance to shine. There’s something interesting going on here. The Inquisitors belong to an order (based on their names/titles) and all use the same type of lightsaber. Their mission in life appears to be the capture or culling of all remaining Jedi and Force Sensitives. But is this Darth Vader’s pet project or is the Emperor pulling the strings? We’ll just have to wait and see.

“Star Wars Rebels” returns to Disney XD on October 14.
