It’s been 38 years since Han Solo and Chewbacca swaggered onto the big screen and into our hearts in “Star Wars: A New Hope.” This December, they return home looking only slightly worse for wear.

To celebrate the upcoming “The Force Awakens,” the folks over at GadgetLove took time away from morphing technology through decades of iteration to do the same for Harrison Ford and Peter Mayhew! Using the Annie Leibovitz’s recent Vanity Fair cover as a base, GadgetLove used their GIF magic to take a rogue and his best friend on a two second journey through almost 40 years of life.

I’m not sure about you guys, but I think Chewbacca has had some really subtle work done…
