20 movies we're still waiting for
Checking in on the status of some long-delayed sequels, reboots and remakes
Kill Bill Vol. 3
Background: Quentin Tarantino has been teasing a "Kill Bill" threequel ever since the release of the second film, albeit with the caveat that he'd need at least a decade before taking on another installment. The idea? O-Ren Ishii lawyer/right-hand woman Sofie Fatale (Julie Dreyfus) trains Nikki - the orphaned daughter of Vernita Green (Vivica A. Fox) - to become an instrument of revenge against The Bride (Uma Thurman), who not only killed Nikki's mother but amputated Sofie's left arm during her quest to take down Bill and his minions in the first two movies.
Current status: It appears the time for "Kill Bill Vol. 3" may be nigh. Speaking at a press conference for "Inglourious Basterds" back in 2009, Tarantino mentioned that he would make only one more film before beginning work on the threequel, which he pegged for release sometime in 2014. With the "one more film" in question being this year's "Django Unchained" (slated for release on December 25), will Tarantino keep his promise to make "Vol. 3" the next movie on his production slate? Let's keep our fingers crossed.
