Background: With a new superhero film opening seemingly every other week, it's frankly odd that DC's long-running character still hasn't hit the big screen (despite a well-received but short-lived TV version in the early '90s). On the verge of a film adaptation for years now, the Scarlet Speedster's cinematic fate seems to be stuck in second gear. Greg Berlanti, who helped turn "Green Lantern" into an unwatchable mess last year, has been attached to write and direct for some time, but the starting line doesn't appear to be in sight.
Current Status: If Warner Bros. is serious about this whole "Justice League" move thing, they could either send "The Flash" to the front of the line, or scrap the idea of a solo film altogether and just introduce the hero in "JL." Either way, it's only a matter of time before the Flash sprints to a theater near you -- let's just hope the executives remember that haste makes waste.
