Jurassic Park 4
Background: "Jurassic Park III" opened in 2001 and fans have been buzzing about a fourquel ever since. Progress reports have spanned the ridiculous (a leaked John Sayles script involving gun-toting dinosaur/human/dog hybrids!) to the hopeless (after author Michael Crichton passed away, producer Kathleen Kennedy was quoted as saying "that'll be it for the series"). But every so often Steven Spielberg or Frank Marshall or "Jurassic Park III" director Joe Johnston will say something to keep hope alive...
Current status: Very optimistic. At last year's Comic-Con, Spielberg vowed "Jurassic Park IV" would happen and just a few weeks ago it was revealed Universal has hired "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver to pen the script (a very encouraging sign considering how successfully "Apes" rebooted a dormant sci-fi franchise). Although no director or stars are currently attached, the film looks like a high priority again.
