Lowdown: The book by Ransom Riggs was a low-key charmer, illustrated with vintage photographs that all had something slightly wrong with them. It's a pretty canny pick for Burton, especially with Jane Goldman handling the screenplay duties. In some ways, it's like the Tim Burton way into a superhero team movie. Set against the backdrop of WWII and a mysterious island that is riddled with wormholes that allows a boy to step back into the past to help a group of very special kids, and his own family in the process. I'm curious to see what sort of visual approach Burton takes to this, because it's honestly one of the more interesting things he's had in his hands in a while.
