'Star Wars,' 'Avengers 2,' 'Superman vs. Batman,' and 'Mockingjay' lead the charge
'Star Wars: Episode VII'
Director: JJ Abrams
Release date: December 18, 2015
Cast: none yet aside from confirmations that we will see Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford return, although we don't know how large a role any of them will actually play.
Lowdown: Right now, there is a whole lot of brain power being focused on this movie, because if it's done right, and if it wins people back over to the idea of "Star Wars" as a thrilling theatrical experience, this gives Disney a chance to release the biggest series of all time. Done wrong, and you risk disillusioning people further, a real danger after the reactions to the prequel trilogy. Look, I think "Star Wars" has a huge fan base that isn't going anywhere, and I think there've been plenty of exciting "Star Wars" stories told in the last decade if you know where to look. I don't think one film can kill "Star Wars" permanently, but I do think the right film could open the door, change the game, and set up opportunities for years to come.
