Who should host the 85th Academy Awards?
Tina Fey, Hugh Jackman, Sandra Bullock and...Chris O'Dowd?
Robert Downey Jr. and partner (let's say Emily Blunt)
The reason Ricky Gervais won't host the Oscars is that the Oscars are all about the comfort of the entrenched Hollywood establishment in the room. Robert Downey Jr. has the advantage of looking a little edgy, but also being totally Hollywood. He'd wink and nudge with the audience, but he'd also keep everybody happy, comfortable and cool. It'd be like "Oscars After Dark," a jazzier, hipper Oscars, without the risk of anybody pulling a James Franco. Always a tremendous presenter at these things, Downey would probably be best served with a banter partner and who better than Blunt, who's gorgeous, funny and versed in improv. This would be a glamourous Oscars and the risk would be minimal. At the same time, Downey Jr. has a very successful film career and it's not immediately clear why he would want to step outside of his comfort zone for a gig that probably wouldn't benefit him in any way.
