Neil Patrick Harris
It's time. Nobody has paid his dues circling and approaching this gig like Neil Patrick Harris. He's been reliably excellent as a Tony Awards host. He's been solid as an Emmys host. He sings. He dances. And he starred in "The Smurfs," so he's not just a TV guy. With Harris, you get to pretend like you're going young and fresh, while simultaneously knowing with absolutely certainty that he'll be able to host a professional telecast with few rough bits and no need for lag-enducing banter. Give him an opening and closing number and that's all that's required. Still, Harris is yet another TV star whose show is on a different network, which seems to be a concern for ABC. Also, there's a very real chance that Harris' surplus of hosting experience might be a drawback. You don't see Billy Crystal hosting TV Land award shows. Billy Crystal is OSCARS OR BUST. Harris is "Have tuxedo, will travel."
