Who should host the 85th Academy Awards?
Tina Fey, Hugh Jackman, Sandra Bullock and...Chris O'Dowd?
No host
Suggested by In Contention's Guy Lodge, having no emcee would be a drastic change to the program and one that would likely make both the Academy and ABC incredibly nervous. The last time there was no Oscar host was in 1989 and that's the ceremony which featured the notorious Snow White and Rob Lowe opening number. Previously there were years with multiple hosts (between 1972-1976 the event featured four co-hosts), but in the history of the program there have only been six Oscar ceremonies without one. And as television critics who review the Emmys, Tonys and Grammys can tell you, not having someone to energize the crowd when things aren't going well can kill a live event. Still, while it would be interesting it's just hard to fathom at this point.
