Best Known For: "Robocop," "Basic Instinct," "Total Recall"

Pros: The idea of Verhoeven directing the decadence of the Capitol or the simmering seeds of rebellion in the various districts is a heady one, even if it's been a while since Verhoeven showed any significant signs of life. He might be looking for a way back into the mainstream, and this would set him free to maybe finally make that sure-to-be controversial film on Jesus he's been working on for a while.

Cons: I doubt "subversive" and "banned in 30 countries" are on the short list of things that Lionsgate wants from "Catching FIre," so perhaps Verhoeven isn't the choice.
