Who should direct 'Catching Fire' and why
We name some top contenders for the choice gig now that Gary Ross has exited
Drew Goddard
Best known for: "The Cabin in the Woods," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Lost"
Pros: He's already a fanboy favorite and could easily maintain or increase the interest of that constituency in "Catching Fire." As the writer of multiple episodes of "Buffy" and "Alias," he has experience with some of the best female action heroines in recent pop culture history. Now that we've finally seen "Cabin," we also know he's a capable and inventive filmmaker. Plus it's released by Lionsgate.
Cons: "Cabin" is his first movie and it took an awfully long time to reach theaters. His sensibility may be a little too irreverent for the hard knock world of Panem and the Hunger Games.
