Best Known For: "LA Confidential," "Wonder Boys," "8 Mile"

Pros: Hanson walks that fine line between being a proficient but anonymous shooter and having a real voice, but he's certainly capable of pulling it all together. His thriller background could make him an interesting choice to shoot the Games themselves, and considering how many people complained about the Games the first time out, you need someone who can really make them exciting.

Cons: Five years since his last feature is a long time. Health problems kept Hanson from completing production on the surfing drama "Of Mavericks and Men," due out later this year. (Michael Apted stepped in.) So it may depend on how quickly he's recovered.
