Who could play the next Batman?
We pick some contenders to fill the boots of 'The Dark Knight Rises'' Christian Bale

Can any of these rising stars play Batman?
In a few short years, Warner Bros. will likely reboot the screen life of the legendary DC Comics character. Since Christian Bale won't be suiting up after "The Dark Knight Rises" next summer, who will step in to fill the cape? Here's a list of 15 candidates that we can imagine being asked to join the Bat brotherhood that also includes Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer and George Clooney. Keep in mind, while some of our choices look too young now, they'll be age appropriate in 4 or 5 years. Who did we forget? Would you like to see any of our guesses play Batman? Vote early and vote often.

The Lost Apostle
December 4, 2011 at 4:21AM EST Reply to CommentMichael Fassbender. Way more talented than the likes of Kellan Lutz and Chace Crawford and such a powerful screen presence.
troopermsu The obvious choice and I think the best choice. I think Gosseling could do it also.
December 4, 2011 at 2:19PM ESTDock I'm in the Fassbender boat too. Gosling might be a safer bet but a Fassbender Bats would be amazing.
December 4, 2011 at 5:15PM ESTF all the Twilight casting. Needs to be Bale calaber acting guy.
CHANGELING Gosling seems way WAY too short to be Batman. And his jaw is going to look funny under the mask. I know this is superficial, especially as Keaton was short and many thought he'd look funny under the mask, but that's my instinct.
December 4, 2011 at 5:45PM ESTFassbender as Batman? That would be AWESOME. Magneto Batman.
artemis definitely :) fassbender would be great. gosling? noooo, i'm tired of him and all the women drooling over his abs. overrated. no, i'm not a guy. i just like other male actors way more than him.

December 4, 2011 at 7:25AM EST Reply to CommentDid anyone think Christian Bale could do Batman based on his past films? I mean, look at his resume... American Psycho and The Machinist were his only major leading roles beforehand, the others were smaller films or ensemble films. I wouldn't count any of these guys (or any guy in his late 20s through his early 40s bouncing around Hollywood) out.
I did LOL at the Kellan Lutz thing though. He may be dreamy, but he's a horrible actor. And I'm saying this as a fan.
troopermsu All one needed to see was the performance in 'American Psycho' to know Bale could handle the role.

December 4, 2011 at 7:43AM EST Reply to CommentArmie Hammer!!!!he has good looks and can definitely act!!!watch the social network and J.Edgar..she was great in those films......besides him, maybe Ryan Gosling bUT I PREFER Ryan doing serious film as he is really good in it
James *he..sorry typing error
December 4, 2011 at 7:44AM ESTThe Lost Apostle Armie Hammer was excellent in J. Edgar. I don't know what the guy who wrote this list is talking about. He lists Kellan Lutz as a contender and says Hammer can't act and that Source Code was a dissapointment. Its baffling he gets paid to make these lists

December 4, 2011 at 8:44AM EST Reply to CommentMy picks would be Michael Fassbender, already on the list Oscar Isaac, and Sam Worthington. Fassbender is an outstanding actor who already proved he can play both heavy drama (Dangerous Method, Shame, Fish Tank) and superhero action (X-Men). Isaac is, I think, the most underrated one. Still his performance was the absolute best part of experimental Sucker Punch if we're taliking action movie experience. He showed his quality in such different movies as Agora or Ridley Scott's Body of Lies. And as for Worthington. He stole the show in otherwise utterly disappointing Terminator Salvation and lead Avatar to become the highest grossing movie of all time. He also did a voice over for the main character in video game hit Call of Duty Black Ops. If he can only get rid of the australian accent for the part of Wayne it would be interesting to see the actor's dark side required for the role of caped crusader.
artemis agree about michael and sam. hehe, that role of oscar's in sucker punch pissed me off so badly, but yeah, he seems like a good actor, tho he doesn't look like my batman. hehe

December 4, 2011 at 9:00AM EST Reply to CommentI'd love Warners to go back to Tim Burton and get him to make a 3rd Keaton Batman film, but exploring Batman as an older man.
Mike Amen to that! And I thick Oscar Isaac would be ideal.

December 4, 2011 at 10:27AM EST Reply to CommentChris hemsworth is Thor. And u derived contract to marvel for 3 or more movies. Don't think he he is able. I would like to ask about some TV guys... Jensen ackles. Much better then lutz and Crawford. Gabriel macht rich boy in suits and was the spirit. Want to go young maybe Steve R McQueen or Michael Trevino.

December 4, 2011 at 11:00AM EST Reply to CommentIf you think Charlie Hunnam's visage can't be sufficiently grim, take the time to re-watch Children of Men and focus on his supporting performance. You'll reconsider quickly.

December 4, 2011 at 12:04PM EST Reply to CommentThis is a clear example of poor decision making. how about they give batman a rest after TDKR. shit, bale put a lot of work into the character. bringing in a new guy so soon in my opinion is going to suck. and these actors cant be batman... ryan gosling? fuck no

December 4, 2011 at 12:34PM EST Reply to CommentAndre Heston would be a fresh and appropriate choice. He's up coming actor who could bring a new angle to the character yet maintain the norm he is known for. He has a brooding dark look and demeaner, is tall and physical . Best of all he a terrific and wide acting range. And enjoys theses kinds of characters.

December 4, 2011 at 12:35PM EST Reply to Commentwasnt a fan of the picks, but Harrington would be a good Dick Grayson or maybe even Tim Drake.
Chris Pine would have been a great Green Lantern.

December 4, 2011 at 1:16PM EST Reply to CommentBy the way, Charlie Hunnam should play Green Arrow. Several times this season on Sons of Anarchy I have thought he looks like the way Oliver Queen should look.

December 4, 2011 at 2:17PM EST Reply to CommentJon Hamm. Don Draper IS Batman!
peter exactly what I was thinking. We don't need a pretty boy batman! fassbender was the only one mentioned that I would even consider.
December 4, 2011 at 10:16PM ESTRick Jon Hamm is 40. He's older than Bale. Isn't that a little old to be Batman?
