Show: "A Kick Up in the Eighties" and "Three of a Kind"
Tenure: 1981-1984 (both)
Ullman got her start as a dramatic actress but didn't made headway until breaking into comedy, first with a live improv show and later as a cast member on two British sketch-comedy series: "A Kick Up in the Eighties" and "Three of a Kind." These led to her James L. Brooks-produced variety series "The Tracey Ullman Show," where she merged her musical abilities and talent for mimicry to come up with one of the most singular star vehicles in comedy history. Ullman is the rare talent who seems to exist in her own universe - while she's made memorable turns in a number of Hollywood films (including last year's "Into the Woods"), her particular brand of celebrity isn't "A-list" or any list, really. She is just Tracey, comedy god.
